Share the Road with School Buses

1/24/2025 | Posted in: News

Always be mindful when sharing the road with a school bus. Buses stop frequently and drivers should always watch for children who may be crossing the street. Follow these tips to keep everyone safe:

  • Yellow flashing lights on a school bus mean slow down — don’t speed up — because the bus is preparing to stop.
  • Red flashing lights mean stop — and wait at least 20 feet behind the bus — because children are getting on or off the school bus.
  • Even when lights aren’t flashing, watch for children and be alert as you back out of a driveway and as you drive around the community.
