On Friday, October 7, Cathy and I were the invited guests of the Filipino American Association of South DuPage for their 38 year celebration.

Happiness is meeting up with an old friend after a long time apart.

As many of you might remember, last week’s Mayor’s Message dealt with good neighbors, and my experience joining a group of great neighbors at a block party in the Pinehurst Subdivision.

The happiest people I know are people who don’t even think about being happy. They just think about being good neighbors, good people. And then happiness sort of sneaks in the back window ...

There are times I find myself talking to people outside Darien about our community, and I end my comments by saying that Darien really is “a nice place to live.”
