Keep to Your Goals

When the clock struck midnight on December 31, besides celebrating the New Year, many of us had probably given thought to things we would like to achieve in 2023, while working to eliminate those behaviors which we saw as negative elements of our lives. While many probably make a list of these “resolutions,” most of us simply gave thought to making changes to our behavior, our relationships, our health or our professional lives.

The quote listed above, while containing a degree of sarcasm, speaks to the difficulty we each have implementing our 2023 resolutions. While I am sure that a number of individuals work diligently to achieve these goals, many of us are faced with the difficulty of holding to goals that we seem to make year after year without any success. I am not saying that we don’t try; I am saying that we need to be more practical as to those life changes that we have a realistic chance of achieving.

I have found over the years that there are items I can achieve by setting out a plan and working through each step in that plan until I reach my goal. Despite my planning, many of my resolutions fall to the wayside. This year, I have only selected two goals for my personal life, both of which involve my health, and I have already taken the first steps toward achieving these goals. If you have taken time to set some New Year’s resolutions, I wish you well as you work toward your goals. In future messages, I will share my progress on my two goals to let you know the progress I am making as the year progresses. If you have a chance, let me know via email how much progress you are making on your goals for the New Year.

I wish all of you success as you tackle your personal goals for 2023, and I hope that you do not find yourself writing the above referenced quote, keep to your goals, and let us all get off to a great start with a positive attitude regarding the future.
