One of the greatest ways to improve our community is to bring together the many social, civic and service groups that serve our community together with the goal of answering the question, “How can we further enrich the lives of our Darien community?" On Saturday, February 12, a group of civic-minded individuals representing over 20 different community organizations met for the second time to answer that question.
We have titled this group the “Darien Community Action Team,” a group of civic-minded individuals who answered our call to join together to assess our community’s strengths, to find ways to create new programs, and bring forth new ideas to better serve our community. As the facilitator of the group, I come away energized by our discussions, and I appreciate the civic engagement that takes place each time we meet. We have already started work on a dynamic community calendar that will be available to residents, on February 12, we heard from two Hinsdale South students regarding a plan to initiate a Farmer’s Market in Darien, and this is just a start for this group.
We are committed to promoting the goal of ONE Darien, as we Organize, Nurture, and Empower our residents in order to make Darien, The Best Place to Live.
